concentration- forms

I was thinking maybe the form doesn't only have to be in one layer.

In the picture there's a place within a multi faced shape and I was thinking maybe I could have a smaller piece within another shape that shows of the shape of the exterior while having another shape with an interesting motif so that the piece wouldn't be overly simple. However the larger shape would be accessible so I could put in and take out the smaller shape when convenient.

Motifs/ Designs

These are some of the designs and motifs that I found really cool and suitable for certain shapes. For example the eye symbol for the pyramid since the eye is often correlated with the Egyptian god Horas and the eye is also represented on the pyramid for the dollar bills in the United States.

Slapdashing

This isn't an artist but it's a blog consists of many different types of art. Slapdashing is an art & design inspiration blog. Everything was quickly scanned, pulled, or sent to the internal inspiration system as reference for one reason or another. since my concentration is about form and shape, I thought this blog would be a really good reference and inspiration for my pieces. Especially for this one, which I think could help me find texture on my forms. Rather than only varying the motifs and shapes, I could add texture onto the shapes.

Concentration Ideas

http://theinterioredge.tumblr.com/post/76244513427/issey-miyake-in-ei-for-artemide

this post is so cool! It has like simple shape that are distorted or just visually interesting and they put a bit of light under or within each shape and it just comes off REALLY COOL! The shapes are of very geometric and rigid but they form really interesting shapes and the way they're executed, as well as photographed, is just really beautiful. The value of each piece is variegated and not just one simple color. The shapes vary as well and aren't just in simple square, pyramids, or spheres. For my concentration I kind of want to try something like this too. since my concentration involves a lot of forms, space, and shape, I was thinking may be I could try something like this. However, I'm not sure about the motifs and designs that I've been planning for my previous concentrations.

Concentration

My concentration was originally on organic and geometric motifs based on the different styles of art on a set geometric shape of a cube. The idea was to try and form different designs onto the cube in order to create space, illusions, and other elements. However, the idea was pushed to transform into focusing on space. Space created through lines, shapes, and form.

Gothic- Rose Windows

Ideas for concentration= shapes with designs

I was thinking of having different designs from different art periods accordingly. The first design I'm thinking about is from the Gothic period. The main aspect from that period is the architecture and from the architecture, two of the most impressionable things are the rose windows and the arch. I was thinking maybe altering between the two designs: half of the facets are of arch with different designs around it, and the other half be rose window designs.
However, rose windows still may be a bit restricting and often repetitive to look similar, I was thinking maybe expand it to circular designs. The designs, though, will be more spirally inclined or at least repetitive in its design.
I found some good rose window designs and shapes that I could sample from:

Rain Room- Random International

Known for their distinctive approach to digital-based contemporary art, Random International’’s experimental artworks come alive through audience interaction. Their largest and most ambitious installation yet, Rain Room is a 100 square metre field of falling water for visitors to walk through and experience how it might feel to control the rain. The  room is fitted with 3D cameras that sense your location in the room, and automatically turn off the water valves above your head, allowing you to walk through the downpour without getting wet.

I think the technical/ technology part of this installation is really cool. I've always hated getting wet on rainy days, unless I was ready to be soaked. However, usually I'm afraid of getting sick so all I can do is watch the rain drops fall and glide across the windows. But now, with this room, it's almost like you can control the rain: have it rain all around except where you are. It gives a sense of isolation as well as comforting space to yourself. The other great thing about this installation is that admission is free!
