Andrew Liszewski

Tunnel House (Installation)

This was an installation by Andrew Liszewski. It was constructed out of the boards on the outside of the house. It's was constructed and torn down in 2005. It creates a kind of black hole effect in which the whole 'inversion' illusions is formed. It's really cool how it forms that vortex kind of feeling and linear quality. It's like the house is being sucked into a vacuum; it's the second before the whole house gets swallowed by a sucking force. It's also really amazing how this isn't just a decoration but once you walk through it you reach an adjacent garden on the other side. The construction of the board is quite elaborately tedious. Imagine taking apart all those boards and forming them into a linear composition that alters from each line. While connecting the boards, you also have to think about how it'll look and actually having the boards put together and allowing a whole through it.
