In the picture there's a place within a multi faced shape and I was thinking maybe I could have a smaller piece within another shape that shows of the shape of the exterior while having another shape with an interesting motif so that the piece wouldn't be overly simple. However the larger shape would be accessible so I could put in and take out the smaller shape when convenient.
